The VO Freedom Master Plan - Now Accepting Applications

Back in February, I recapped my research talking to almost 70 voice actors last Fall, and announced the development and launch of The VO Freedom Master Plan (VOFMP).

Here’s an update on where we are right now and what’s coming very soon.

WHAT’S HAPPENED SO FAR

I developed The VO Freedom Master Plan directly from those chats and that research last Fall to take voice actors from booking inconsistently, relying on pay-to-plays, not having a plan and process to market themselves, to growing relationships at scale that lead to more consistent booking and income so that they can achieve the freedom and flexibility to live their best lives.

My goal was to begin with a beta that I could test and learn from, with an initial cohort of 10 students to create real transformation.

I was adamant that I didn’t simply want to throw my best guess of what voice actors need out into the world. I wanted to make sure that what I’d developed truly met a need and was comprehensive, and if it wasn’t then I would learn what was missing or unnecessary and add or subtract as needed.

I didn’t want this program to be just another litany of “tips and tricks,” but to provide an actual mindset and process that voice actors could apply to their own businesses to find and grow relationships at scale and make that transformation to consistent booking and income and the life they want.

Due to unanticipated demand, the beta launched on March 1st with two cohorts totaling 25 students.

The beta was delivered in 7 live sessions over the course of 8 weeks. Students also had access to recordings of the live sessions to review after the fact or in case they were unable to attend live.

THE RESPONSE

The response to the program has been overwhelmingly positive. Here’s a sample of what students have said:

“There's so much I didn't know about CRM and direct marketing!”

“I was so impressed by how much can be done within LinkedIn to generate leads, it was a lot to take in!”

“Eye opening and inspiring.”

“A wealth of such helpful information! Thank you!”

“It will require a lot of work from me…but this is exactly what I need.”

“This whole course is so good! Thank you!”

“You're doing an excellent job providing comprehensive aspects of the voiceover business.”

“It's great that this program is focusing on the details of marketing that when you are learning, most people just barely touch on.”

MOVING FORWARD

The beta wrapped yesterday, April 20th. Now begins the process of incorporating the student feedback and lessons learned into the program.

Paul Walsh, Program Director of the University System of Maryland online learning program, known as USMx.

I’ve also enlisted Paul Walsh, Program Director of the University System of Maryland online learning program, known as USMx. Paul has spent his entire career as an Instructional Designer and Director and has led teams at the university level providing both access to innovative e-learning technologies as well as the resources, support, and planning necessary for strategic implementation of online learning.

Paul is working with me to make sure that our program incorporates online and e-learning best practices to ensure that the program is the best and most effective it can be.

It’s my mission to change the careers and lives of voice actors for the better by changing the way we teach finding work in this business and by building a community of gritty, action-taking, empowered people making that transformation.

THE FULL RELEASE IS NOW LIVE

The curriculum is live online and is now asynchronous, meaning that you can log in and work on the curriculum at your convenience anytime day or night from anywhere in the world.

In order to be accepted, you must be a working voice actor with a website and professional commercial and narration demo. A strategy call is required to make sure you’re a good fit for the program. I don’t want to work with just anyone. I want to work with people that I know I can really help.

I look forward to chatting about your voice-over journey and where you want it to take you.
